PDU for Surgeons Virtual Course

PD (Peritoneal Dialysis) University for Surgeons provides a two-step approach to training general surgeons to place catheters for peritoneal dialysis using laparoscopic techniques. The first step involves an online series of comprehensive lectures covering all aspects of creating and maintaining PD access. The lecture topics are organized in a logical fashion, one subject building upon the previous, and therefore can only be viewed in the prescribed sequence. Once viewed, each video can be revisited multiple times, but the entire series should be completed within 60 days of starting the course. Upon completion of all units, the learner will be able to print a CME certificate for this course.

Completion of the didact lecture portion of this program also qualifies the participant to register for the CME accredited second step of the course comprised of a hands-on workshop of PD access techniques. This course is designed for surgeons with basic surgical experience, including sterile techniques (glove/gowning) and administering local anesthesia, dissection, and suturing. Graduates of this course will receive notification when the hands-on workshop is available for registration.

Although there are no prerequisites for this course, it is designed for surgeons who have experience with PD catheter insertions, or are aspiring to do so. Surgery residents in training are welcome.
